Brad Keselowski Makes Changes To His Nationwide Schedule To Focus On Cup
With an opportunity to win the championship in the 2012 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Brad Keselowski had to make a decision for the reminder of the year.
As Keselowski continues to race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the cup championship, he has decided to withdraw himself from some of the races in the Nationwide Series, according to ESPN. In 2012 Keselowski who has been racing a partial NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, wants to focus on racing for the Cup title.
Keselowski announced Tuesday during an appearance at Charlotte Motor Speedway that Ryan Blaney will replace him in the No.22 Penske Racing Dodge in the Nationwide Series at Kansas. Keselowski will also sit out the final race in the Nationwide Series at Homestead-Miami. He will race at Charlotte and Phoenix.
A decision has not been made concerning the Nationwide race at Texas Motor Speedway, as it will be a day of decision.
Keselowski currently sits on top of the points standings in the cup series following his win at Dover International Speedway on Sunday. In the first three races in the chase Keselowski has won two, Chicagoland and Dover. He is tied with Denny Hamlin with the most wins in the season.
With the lead in the Cup Series points, Keselowski holds the top spot with a five point lead over second place Jimmie Johnson, and 16 points ahead of Hamlin.
