As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series makes its way to the sixth race in the chase, Kasey Kahne will lead the field to the green flag at Kansas.
Kahne won the pole for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway when he posted a qualifying lap of 191.360 mph in 28.22 seconds. The pole win at Kansas is Kahne’s fourth pole of the season. Friday’s qualifying speed posted by Kahne also became a new track record at Kansas, by 10 mph more than the previous record set by Matt Kenseth in 2005.
Joining Kahne on the front row for the Hollywood Casino 400 will be Mark Martin. Closing out the top five are Martin’s Michael Waltrip Racing teammate and Charlotte winner Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, and Aric Almirola.
Out of the top three drivers in the point standings heading into Kansas, two qualified within the top ten. Jimmie Johnson qualified in seventh and Denny Hamlin also qualified in ninth. Current points leader Brad Keselowski qualified within the top 25 in 25th.
Rounding out the top ten for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 are Ryan Newman, Johnson, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick.
Heading into the race weekend at Kansas, Keselowski currently holds the lead with seven points ahead of Johnson. Hamlin sits back 15 points from Keselowski and Bowyer sits back 28 points.
