With the 2012 Chase for the Sprint Cup 60% done Brad Keselowski is doing a terrific job of having the other 11 drivers continue to play follower the leader. Keselowski has maintained the lead since the initial race six weeks ago when he captured the checkered flag at the Geico 400 at Chicago. This past week at Kansas, Keselowski finished eighth and maintains a seven point lead over Jimmie Johnson who sits in second place and also finished the race in Kansas one spot behind him in ninth. Denny Hamlin finished the race in 13th place and has now fallen 20 points behind the leader.

Matt Kenseth finished the race in Kansas in first place, which saw a record 14 yellow flags due to caution on the newly resurfaced track. Many of the drivers felt that was the reason why there so many wrecks because the track wasn’t completely even and they couldn’t get a good feel for it as they competed. Kenseth jumped up in the Chase standings from 11th place to ninth and is 55 points behind the first place Keselowski.

Martin Truex Jr. finished second and now sits in sixth place, 43 points behind the leader. Kasey Kahne finished fourth and is just 30 points behind Keselowski in fifth place in the Chase standings. Tony Stewart finished the race in fifth place and sits in seventh in the standings 47 points behind first place. Jeff Gordon finished in 10th place and is in eighth place in the standings 51 points behind Keselowski which means his bid for a fifth NASCAR Cup Championship is all but over with just four races remaining.

Kevin Harvick finished in 11th place and now finds himself 10th in the standings while Greg Biffle had the worst day of the 11 drivers finding himself finish in 27th place and is now in 11th place in the Chase. Dale Earnhardt Jr. missed his second consecutive race due to concussions and remains in 12th place. Earnhardt Jr. is scheduled to return to action this upcoming week, however there has been no word from his Hendrick Motorsports team on whether he has been cleared by doctors to race yet.

Up next for the drivers is Martinsville where Little E had the best finish amongst the Chase drivers earlier this season coming in third place.
