Nelson Piquet Jr. To Start Up Front For Second Consecutive Week

With the NASCAR Camping World Series drivers ready to battle it out in the deserts of Phoenix, Nelson Piquet Jr. will lead the field to the green flag Friday night.

During Friday’s qualifying session at Phoenix International Raceway, Piqet won the pole for the Lucas Oil 150 when he posted a lap of mph in seconds. Piquet’s lap also became a new track record, beating several drivers attempts of breaking the record.

The pole at Phoenix is Piquet’s fourth pole of 2012 and fourth trucks career pole. It was also his second consecutive pole. He also led the final practice on Thursday.

Joining Piquet on the front row will be Ryan Blaney followed by Brian Scott in third Cale Gale and Matt Crafton to close out the top five.

2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Champion Kyle Larson will start in sixth followed by Parker Kligerman, Timothy Peters, points leader James Buescher, and Ron Hornaday Jr. round out the top 10.

Championship contender Ty Dillon will start off in 21st .

In Friday’s qualifying session 38 trucks attempted qualifying laps to capture one of 36 spots to race under the lights at Phoenix. Jennifer Jo Cobb and Ben Reynolds failed to make the race field.

Heading into Phoenix Buescher goes in with the points lead, with 15 points ahead of second place Dillon. Phoenix is the next to last race before the 2012 champion is crowned.
