Dillon Brothers On The Verge Of Capturing Some Of NASCAR’s Top Honors
The 2012 NASCAR season is coming to an end at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend but for the Dillon Brothers it could be a celebratory weekend.
For Austin and Ty Dillon both brothers will be ending their first year in a brand new series and ending it out on a high note. The pair of brothers can capture one of the sports highest honors by the end of the weekend, leaving Homestead-Miami with Rookie of the Year.
The 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series season has been a good for Austin following his success in the Truck Series. As the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion, Austin will be finishing up on his first Nationwide Season. In 32 races Dillon has captured two wins, 15 top-five and 26 top-10 finishes.
As a past Rookie of the Year in the 2010 Trucks season, Austin is on his way to capturing that honor once again in the Nationwide Series. Prior to the Truck Series Austin is was also the Rookie of the Year in the K&N Pro Series East in 2008.
Austin can capture the Rookie of the Year honors since he is 63 points ahead of Cole Whitt. He also sits in third in the point standings.
In his first full NASCAR season, Ty the younger brother of the Dillon brothers is looking to close his rookie season with several accomplishments. Heading into Homestead Ty has the opportunity to walk away with Rookie of the Year honors in the Truck Series.
Before he made his way to the Trucks Series, Ty went in following his championship season in the ARCA series as the 2011 champion.
In 2012 Ty has accomplished one win, seven top-five finishes and 17 top-10’s. At Homestead he has a chance at Capturing the truck series title as he sits in third in the points with 12 points behind points lead James Buescher.
