JR Motorsports Heads Into The New Season With A Big Gain
The NASCAR 2013 season is just days ahead but JR Motorsports is ready to get back to racing.
Heading into the new season for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, JR Motorsports has gained new backing from a sponsor that has been a part of the series for several years. On Wednesday JR Motorsports announced the new partnership with Great Clips for 28 races in the upcoming season. Along with the new sponsor the team also gained two new members with Brad Sweet and Kasey Kahne joining for 2013.
JR Motorsports announced the signings the same day Turner Motorsports announced that Great Clips would not return with the team. Not only did one of their sponsors leave but so did the drivers that shared the same ride. What became Turner Motorsports loss became JR Motorsports new gain.
Both Kahne and Sweet have raced with Great Clips as their sponsor in various racing series. Over the last season both drivers and sponsor raced with Turner Motorsports and their relationship together over the years is what brought both over to a new team.
Going into the new season JR Motorsports is going in with a clean slate. Along with a new sponsor and Kahne and Sweet joining the team, Regan Smith will be the team’s full time driver. With a new opportunity, Smith hopes to win a championship as well as the team’s only driver competing for a driver’s championship.
JR Motorsports is looking for a new beginning following all the changes towards the end of the 2012 season.
In the new season Smith will take over Danica Patrick’s old ride in the No.7 car meanwhile Sweet and Kahne will share the No.5 car. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is expected to race in some races in the No.88 car.
Although JR Motorsports may have gotten the sponsorship and drivers, former JRM driver Patrick has been linked to Turner Motorsports and could driver for the team in 10 Nationwide races in the season.
