The upcoming 2013 NASCAR season will be a season of firsts as Danica Patrick makes her into the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series full-time.
After getting her first taste of the Cup Series Patrick in 2012 in a partial schedule, Patrick will now have to put all that she learned up to the test in her first full season. Throughout 2012 the former IndyCar Series driver got the opportunity to try to learn about the NASCAR’s biggest series while she raced a Nationwide schedule. As she gets ready for NASCAR’s big leagues, Patrick needs to put all of her focus onto her upcoming Cup career.
The upcoming season will be Patrick’s fourth NASCAR season but only her second full time season since she made her NASCAR debut coming over from the IndyCar Series. Patrick’s first full-season came during last season’s Nationwide season after she decided to leave IndyCar to pursue a career in NASCAR full-time. As 2013 presents a new challenge for Patrick she needs to dedicate al her time in focus into this if she really wants to make the best of her time in Cup and her career.
When Patrick made the decision to race in the Nationwide Series, there was talk about her wanting to return to race in the Indy 500. Not only were the talks distracting but Patrick also took on the 10-race Cup schedule so she could move up faster. Patrick did use the races to prepare for 2013 while racing full-time in Nationwide but it felt as if the time in Nationwide was not for a title.
Going into Cup, she will continue to race in the Nationwide Series part-time but how she performs in her first full-time cup ride will be the talk of her fans and non-fans alike. People will be waiting to critique her performance on whether she succeeds or not.
The NASCAR season had not even begun yet there were still talks about her doing the Indy 500. If she wants to race the Indy 500 again that’s fine but she needs to focus on one thing. If Patrick would just dedicate her time to just one series, it could provide the results she is looking for.
The 2013 season will be make or break for Patrick as she heads into her new journey.
