He may carry the nickname “Five Time” on the Sprint Cup side of the NASCAR garage area but Jimmie Johnson may not have the same street cred in the Nationwide Series. The five time Cup Champ says that he’s looking forward to racing on Saturday for JR Motorsports despite only having one win in the NNS.

Johnson will be behind the wheel of the No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet Camaro for Dale Earnhardt Jr‘s team for the Dollar General 200 at Phoenix International Raceway.

“I think that I should run well. My goal is to get more experience on the track,” Johnson said. “It will be fun, for starters. I always have fun when I get to drive for Junior. I get to see my old friend, Greg Ives, and some other familiar faces on the team.”

While Johnson has not racked up the win on the Nationwide scorecard he has had several good runs in the series and for JR Motorsports.  This weekend’s race will mark his sixth event in a JR Motorsports Chevrolet and first NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start since 2011. In his five previous starts for the organization, Johnson earned one top five and two top 10 finishes.

While he has only had limited time in the NNS at PIR Johnson does have an impressive overall racing record at the track. In 19 starts, he has notched four wins, 12 top five and 15 top 10 finishes. Johnson also has one PIR pole to his credit. What that Johnson knows his way around the sweeping turns at PIR is that his average finish is 6.7, and he has led an amazing 931 laps.

Johnson won’t be the only driver on the track for JR Motorsports. He will have a teammate in the form of Regan Smith behind the wheel of the No. 7 TaxSlayer.com Chevrolet.
