The time to begin his quest in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has arrived for Timmy Hill.
Beginning at the race weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Hill starts his 2013 season as well as his rookie year in cup. Compared to his fellow rookie competitors Hill, will begin to make up for time missed in the race for rookie honors.
Hill, the winner of the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series rookie honors, will begin his Sprint Cup Series journey in the No.32 FAS Lane Racing Ford. During the weekend at Fontana, both Hill and FAS Lane Racing will begin their new partnership together that had been announced just prior to the new season.
Compared to his fellow rookie competitors Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Hill will race in a partial schedule. Fontana will be the first of 18 to 20 races for the rookie. With Patrick and Stenhouse already having an advantage over Hill as they have collected points, Hill will have plenty of ground to make up if he wants to win rookie honors.
The upcoming race will be Hill’s fourth start in the Cup Series and fourth with FAS Lane Racing after making three starts in 2012. His best finish within those three starts was a 22nd place finish and on the lead lap. Heading forward within his career in the Cup Series he will have the opportunity to continue improving from his last three starts. Not only will he have the chance to improve but will gain experience as well.
