Kasey Kahne has been one of the few that has started off this NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season strong and picked up a win already in this first five race stretch at the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. He was able to pull out a win while reigning champ Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch went at it behind him for the runner up spot.
After a pair of shaky starts at Daytona and Phoenix then a second place finish at Las Vegas, Kahne has been on a roll. At the exciting and surprising Auto Club 400 at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California the Hendrick Motorsports driver was able to pull out a top ten finish.
Will this be the year that Kahne is able to break out and ride a wave of momentum to a championship? Ever since he has arrived at Hendrick Motorsports and before this young driver has been classified as a championship contender. One of his best years on record was back in 2006 only his third year in the Sprint Cup Series where he won six races. He had another landmark year last year this time in the Chase for the Sprint Cup where he would ultimately finish fourth behind teammate and five time Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson.
If Kahne can ride this early season momentum he could have another great year with Hendrick Motorsports to prove once again just how deep and dominant this team is in the field of racing talent. Maybe Kahne can foist that Sprint Cup trophy come November?
