The NASCAR picks for this weeks race at Pocono Raceway for the Party in the Poconos 400 are quite different from last week’s for Dover. The one notable driver that I will not recommend this week is points leader Jimmie Johnson who does have the pole because of the rained out qualifying session. Johnson only has two wins here, unremarkable in comparison to his standard at other tracks. Those two wins also came way back in the yesteryear of 2004.

Instead, this week for your Fantasy NASCAR teams I recommend some driver picks that aren’t very orthodox outside of this three turn track in the mountains. A great solid contender pick for this week will be Jeff Gordon. The veteran champion driver will be hungry for a win to solidify his wild card position in the Chase. At this track last year, he won after the rain caused the race to be shortened. That race was instrumental in making sure he got into the Chase last year over Kyle Busch. Besides last season. he also has five wins over his career there.

Two other good picks for this week are early season rivals Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano. These former Joe Gibbs Racing teammates both run well here and are both in desperate need of a win to catapult their Chase chances. Logano was able to win in this race last season and has run well with his new Penske Racing team this year.

Hamlin on the other hand has four wins and is in a points position where he simply needs wins; without them, he won’t make the Chase. So, expect both to be contending for the race win.

One pick that is not too expensive and should have no trouble finishing solidly is Mark Martin, who has twenty top 10 finishes at this track over his long career.

Good luck in your Fantasy league this week!
