Joey Logano Takes Another Step Toward the Chase in NASCAR Quicken Loans 400
This week in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Quicken Loans 400 at Michigan International Speedway Penske Racing, driver Joey Logano was able to pull out a solid finish again after sliding into the top 10 last week at Pocono. This season has been all about validation for this young driver.
Logano has to have a solid year to show new employer Roger Penske why he is worth having in the drivers stable. If Penske can get both of his star drivers in the Chase, it would be great for the organization. Then Penske Racing would be closer to become one of the elite teams in NASCAR joining Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing.
Logano’s finish of ninth at the checkered flag moved him up to a fourteenth in the points just behind Martin Truex Jr. who sits in 13th just outside of the wild card. As the race for the wild card spots heats up with Tony Stewart now in the top 10 and Kasey Kahne likely to find a way back there, Joey Logano can insert himself if he can pull out a win before the Chicago race comes later this season.
In the next stretch, there a few tracks where Logano has a good shot at a win including both Daytona and Bristol where he finished at fourth and eigth resepectively. Logano will also benefit by continuing his streak of four top ten finishes so far so that he can climb in the standings based solely on points.
There is every possibility that Logano can fill one of the wild card spots at the end of the NASCAR regular season.
