After an altercation that took him out of contention at New Hampshire, wiping out his chance of a potential win, bad boy Kurt Busch managed to tame his infamous temper and refrain from throwing any type of abuse at Ryan Newman.

Not throwing a single toy from his pram, the No. 78 didn’t even mention Newman after the crash, only commenting that he got hit from behind. Is this really Busch displaying maturity, even though the incident knocked him out of the top 12?

Keep in mind, this is the Busch family we’re talking about, and this time it was brother Kyle Busch who couldn’t help but create a bit of drama by slamming Newman as an “idiot.”

In fact, the younger Busch took several shots at Newman, knowing Newman was leaving the team at the end of the season.

“I really hate it that Kurt got tore up and I felt like he had the best car here today,” he told ESPN. “[Kurt] was definitely good. He could definitely roll the long runs for sure and I was proud of those guys, but man just stupidity. I mean Ryan Newman is the biggest stupid idiot out here. And he’s a big ogre and he can do whatever he wants because he can probably kick anybody’s butt, so no sense in getting into a fight with him. But glad he is out of a job.”

The incident occurred on lap 226 of 302. It turned a potential win into a 31st-place finish that dropped Kurt from ninth to 14th in the standings.

I’ve been enjoying watching Kurt’s racing over the last five or six races, pulling himself up the standings and into the top-10 for the Chase. I hope this only stirs No. 78 into racing harder and quickly regaining his place again.

After the crash, Newman said he was disappointed in what he thought was extremely aggressive racing immediately after restarts at the one-mile oval and mentioned contact from Kyle Busch when talking about his incident with Kurt Busch.
