Drew Herring gets the opportunity of a life time to step into a NASCAR Nationwide Series car that has dominated the 2013 season. He takes that opportunity seriously and wins the Coors Light Pole Award for the race at Iowa Speedway.

Drew Herring is making his second start in the Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) No. 54 Camry at Iowa Speedway. Drew drove the No. 54 at Iowa earlier in the season. He started the race ninth and finished 11th.

Herring said, “I’m really looking forward to hitting the track at Iowa for the second time this year. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the result we wanted the first round, but we learned a lot. All we need to do now is apply what we learned to the No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota and I know we can get the result we are capable of. Adam (Stevens, crew chief) is working towards a top-five result, but it sure would be special to surprise everyone with a win. Adam and the guys have continued to be impressive and I am ready to get back to the track and work with these guys. I know I’ll learn a lot.”

Drew Herring is no stranger to starting the Nationwide race at Iowa from the pole. He started the race first in May 2011 driving the JGR No. 20 and finished 12th.

Kyle Busch dominated the Nationwide Series race last week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the No. 54 JGR Monster Energy Car. Kyle has won eight of 19 Nationwide Series races this season. Drew has big shoes to fill but he obviously has the car to do it.

Drew is also trying to keep the JGR No. 54 in first place in the Owner Standings.

If you cannot get to Iowa Speedway the race will be on ESPN Saturday August 3rd at 8:00 PM ET.
