Well it is that time of the year that every NASCAR fan and some drivers have waited for. It is the last chance for the driver you follow to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup. NASCAR returns to Richmond International Speedway, where the twelve drivers who will have a chance to win the championship will be decided.

Writing about the scenarios on how each driver may or may not make the Chase in hopes of making it less confusing is just about impossible. One would think there could be a way to make it easier to follow. The big problem is that if one driver has a disastrous race the rest of the scenarios reset. They not only reset but depending on which one has a disastrous race, they can change in a major way. I will attempt to simplify it.

Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth are in. They can lay back, wait for the following week, have a baby, or race for yet another win and the bonus points that go with it.

Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Kurt Busch control their own destiny by finishing the race well. They know what they need to do. Avoid disaster and they are in. Greg Biffle has to get a top ten. Kurt Busch has to all but win by placing second.

Kasey Kahne is locked into the Chase for the Sprint Cup by his two wins and Wild Card standing. He can race those four drivers. He is racing the four guys to knock them out of the top ten. That way he can get those same bonus points for his two wins. He just might be the spoiler on Saturday Night.

This point is where the scenarios get complicated. These drivers need some help from one of the eleven above. Martin Truex Jr. and Ryan Newman are racing themselves for the last Wild Card spot with their one race win each. Jeff Gordon is racing for the win so he can displace one of those two in the Wild Card. While these three are doing that they are hoping no one knocks Joey Logano or Greg Biffle from the top ten. That would be the big reset noted above. Enter Kasey Kahne the spoiler as noted above.

Brad Keselowski, Jamie McMurray and Paul Menard mathematically have a chance if they win the race. It will most certainly require some major carnage to occur to multiple drivers previously mentioned above.

It is shaping up to be a race to remember. Since Kasey Kahne will be racing for the win he just might spoil one of those other drivers chance for the Championship.
