Here’s the final part of our interview with NASCAR driver A.J. Allmendinger.

What has been the greatest upside to working with JTG-Daugherty Racing  in 2013 to prepare for next year?

Just having a lot fun and a lot of great people to be around. Whether it’s Tad and Jodi, or Brad, or Bobby Hutchens (the competition director), Brian Burns and even more down the line, they’re just really fun to be around. It’s fun coming to the race track with them, working together away from the race track as well.

I think sometimes in this sport, it gets lost because there’s just so much pressure on the line every week. You need that good group of solid guys that you can be around and you can win or lose together, but still have fun.

How difficult is it going to be going from a part-time schedule to a full-time schedule?

If you look at my schedule this year, it’s not too off of full-time at all. I’m doing more racing this year than I’ve ever had.

What are your plans for the Rolex 24 with Michael Shank Racing?

Of course. That’s a long-lasting relationship, that’s a marriage right there. Me and Mike Shank. The only thing that would come in between that is if Roger Penske wanted to do something there to have me run it. I love that guy.

That goes way beyond driver and owner. He’s my best friend and I would do anything for that guy and he’s done everything for me. It was really cool last year to finally get that win with him and Ozz Negri and Justin Wilson. I want to do it again to kind of get that monkey off of our back and I think we got a shot to win that race.
