Kurt Busch might be one of the 13 drivers in the 2013 chase, but come the race at Talladega Superspeedway, it will be his own version of Talladega Nights.
For the upcoming Talladega race within the chase, Busch will be channeling his inner Ricky Bobby, the character from Talladega Nights, when Wonder sponsors the No.78 Furniture Row car. The partnership between both parties also marks the return of Wonder bread to NASCAR.
Wonder Bread used to be a sponsor within the sport, and a Wonder paint scheme was also featured in the 2006 film.
The upcoming Talladega race will be the second time Busch drives a car with a paint scheme that ties back to the movie.
During Busch’s time with Phoenix Racing, Busch raced in a similar paint scheme that is featured in the movie. Not only did he feature the same paint scheme, but he also had the same fire suit as the film.
There still are a few more races until the Cup Series reaches Talladega, but with Busch’s new sponsor, it certainly leaves something to look forward to. The last time Busch raced with the movie paint scheme, it added a little to the race and brought out the occasional movie references and quotes.
Not only does this the sponsorship bring some excitement into the race, but it also allows Busch to have some fun with it as well. The last time Busch raced a similar paint scheme, he went along with it, showcasing his inner Ricky Bobby.
