Race teams come and go, but the good ones are forever. A team that is impressing a lot of people this year is Penske Racing. The duo of Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski has two poles, four front-row starts and five out of six top-five finishes in just three races this year. Those kind of numbers with a two-car team is insanely impressive.
Penske Racing impressing comes as no surprise to me, though. Logano finally is starting to come to form and Keselowski just continues to dominate. People say Kevin Harvick is Mr. Where-Did-He-Come-From; I say Keselowski should be Mr. Where-Did-He-Come-From. Keselowski comes in and dominates races when you’re least expecting it.
Larry McReynolds is even impressed by Penske Racing . I’m not sure how much it takes to impress him, but I’m sure it’s a lot. He had this to say about Penske Racing and Hendrick Motorsports so far in the early going of the 2014 season:
“When I look at the first three races, Hendrick Motorsports looks like they have their arms around it. They placed all four drivers in the top nine at Las Vegas. But Penske Racing has two drivers, three races, six attempts, two poles, four front-row starts and five out of six top-five finishes. In the early going of the season, Penske Racing looks like they have their arms around 2014.”
Penske Racing and Hendrick Motorsports have both been real impressive this year. But you know it’s still super early in the season and anything can happen since this is NASCAR we are talking about.
The Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway could be the deciding factor in who really impressed writers and media members the most. It’s going to be a good one; so strap in and hold on for the wild ride.
