Tire issues seem to go with NASCAR like bread goes with butter. Every season, you hear of a new tire or a new product coming out to help the tires take more punishment from some of the highest-powered race cars in the world.
This year is no different with tire issues in Fontana making a huge impact on what a lot of people thought about Goodyear and their model tire that is currently used in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. At the end of the race at Auto Club Speedway, several top-10 drivers had sudden tire issues one after the other. That just can’t happen if you want good clean racing.
In a sport like NASCAR, there is no room for negativity towards anything. There’s negativity towards all the changes that have been happening, but the changes are for the good. Changes to the tire could be on the horizon once again for NASCAR. I’ve heard a little bit of internet speculation that Goodyear might not last very long as the official tire of NASCAR.
Having another tire brand on a Sprint Cup car would look weird at first, but I think I can get used to it as long as I don’t hear about anymore tire issues. NASCAR needs on-track excitement, evenly matched racing and popular drivers finishing on top.
Without the fans, NASCAR will be nothing, and lately I’ve heard a lot of fans say they are fed up with tire issues. It’s for sure something that NASCAR needs to get fixed immediately or they will suffer the consequences.
