Scott Dixon Blisters Fastest Indy 500 Qualifying Speed in 21 Years to Win Pole

By Anthony Blake

Some of the numbers put up in Indy 500 qualifying are truly terrifying for the average sedan-driving folks out in the world, but none more so than the speeds from Scott Dixon on Sunday.

The veteran posted the fastest speeds seen at the track in 21 years during qualifying, and the ride in the cockpit of his car is incredible to watch.

Most of us feel like daredevils going 80 MPH, so Dixon’s flawless first lap of 232.595 MPH and four-lap average of 232.164 MPH are ridiculous at nearly three times that speed.

He blew away the rest of the field in qualifying as well, so perhaps the New Zealander will be able to add another milk bath to his 2008 trip to victory lane at the fastest oval in sports.
