The Philadelphia 76ers once again failed to impress with yet another preseason loss, this time to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The final score was 111-95. The Sixers have dropped to 1-5 for the 2010-2011 preseason.
There were some promising takeaways from the contest:
Andres Nocioni posted 17 points in just 16:34 going 7 of 9 from the field. That is quite an offensive breakout in very limited minutes.
Andre Iguodala did what he does best in trying to post numbers in each column of the box score. He finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Unfortunately he had 3 turnovers but, overall it was a good showing for just under 31 minutes of work.
As always there are some areas that need improvement:
Rebounding, rebounding, and rebounding. I cannot stress it enough. The Philadelphia 76ers just do not hit the boards the way that they should. The bench needed to carry most of the load in this department tonight. Call me crazy but it would seem to me like your 4’s and 5’s should be your leading rebounders. It should be an embarrassment to the team that your starting point guard grabs more rebounds than your starting power forward.
Elton Brand played nearly 23 minutes and only managed 3 rebounds. Thankfully, in limited minutes Marreese Speights snagged 7 and Thaddeus Young earned 5 off the glass.
As always, there is reason to be positive and there is reason to hang your head in despair. The Sixers have one final tune-up Wednesday October 20th at 7PM versus the New York Knicks.
