NBA.com reports that the Philadelphia 76ers have exercised the third-year option on point guard Jrue Holiday and the fourth-year option on forward/center Marreese Speights. That means the team maintains these players under contract through the 2011-2012 season.
This is good news since both players show promise, especially Jrue Holiday. I fully expect the Sixers to hang onto both players for many years to come. The lack of a dominant frontline adds value to Speights. Jrue has the potential to be a very quality point guard with the added benefit of being able to rebound and defend.
Nice job by the Sixers organization to lock these players up.
