The Phoenix Suns went into hostile territory on Sunday, Phillips Arena, home of the undefeated Atlanta Hawks. By the end of the evening, there were no more undefeated teams in the Eastern Conference as the Suns derailed the Hawks 118-114. The win gave the Suns their first winning streak of the season at two games as they evened their season record to 3-3.
Steve Nash looked like his old self as he had 15 assists in addition to his 19 points to steer the Suns machine. Jason Richardson led the Suns with 21 points and the Suns shot 56% for the game and 48% from the three point line. The Suns were in control most of the game, including a stretch where they led by 18 in the third quarter. The Hawks fought hard to maintain their undefeated record but were done in by the Suns timely shooting.
This is a good indicator of where the Suns are heading. Five of their first six opponents have been playoff teams on the rise. the Suns have more than held their own and are finally starting to pull out games at the end. This murderer’s row to start the season will only prove to be a good thing to the success of the Suns as the season goes on.
