Mavs Look To Avoid Three Game Skid Without Two Key Players
The Dallas Mavericks will be looking to avoid its first three-game losing streak of the season tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks. The good news is that Jason Kidd has found his groove (recorded his first triple-double of the season in the last game). The bad news is they will be without their top two power forwards- Dirk Nowitzki (right knee injury) and Shawn Marion (bruised thigh). The biggest reason Dallas has lost the back to back games is because of the injury to Dirk, but now they will have to try to get a win without his backup as well.
The Mavs should have all the reasoning they need to want to win this game, not only because of the back to back losses, but also because the Bucks ended their double-digit winning streak the last time the teams played in December. The Bucks are also dealing with their share of injuries (point guard Brandon Jennings and big man Drew Gooden), but any game without Nowitzki is a tough task for Dallas.
Dallas will most likely need a bounce-back game from super-sub Jason Terry in order to get the Mavs to get their 25th victory tonight. He shot 3 of 16 against the league-leading Spurs on Thursday night, pretty much shooting the Mavericks out of a chance to win the game. Most of the offensive load will belong to him and Caron Butler for as long as Nowitzki remains sidelined, which isn’t expected to be that much longer.
