Fool’s Gold (Release of the 2011-2012 NBA Schedule)

Guess what basketball fans? The NBA will release the regular season schedule for the 2011-2012 NBA season, but there’s a catch. The league must end this painful lockout before creating any hype for next season.

Tomorrow afternoon, NBATV will broadcast a show that’s dedicated to the match-ups for the 2011-2012 NBA season. Many sources are claiming that David Stern will have a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat on Christmas Day. The same sources also claim that the Mavericks will host the Chicago Bulls in Dallas on opening night.

Of course the world would love to see these teams go head-to-head. Miami’s “Big 3″ looking for revenge against the Mavericks on Christmas Day and Derrick Rose leading a marked Bulls team into Dallas, while the Mavericks raise their franchise’s first NBA championship banner. Those are great story lines, but who is the NBA kidding, seriously.

The owners and players are football fields apart when it comes to negotiating a new CBA deal that will restore the 2011-2012 season. It’s like the release of the schedule is fool’s gold. The only excitement you’ll get from a frustrated NBA fan is lifting this idiotic lockout that forces NBATV to show countless “Hardwood Classics”.

Since the NBA Lockout is so boring, yes, thiswriter will watch NBATV’s show dedicated to the 2011-2012 NBA season. It’s just too bad these games will never be played according to plan.

It’s funny how they’re going with a “business as usual” approach to the schedule release. I’d love to be talking about free agency, and gearing up for summer league. Instead I’m stuck with an NBA schedule release show spotlighting games that probably won’t be played until, best case scenario, January.
