Chinese sneaker brand Li-Ning announced that they
were bringing their shoe endorser Shaquille O’Neal to China for a “Goodbye
Legend” tour. Shaq is scheduled to arrive in China on October 15th
and will tour the country through October 20th. Shaq’s first-stop will be
Beijing. Jiangmen, Shenzhen, Nanning and Kunming are also cities slotted to be visited
by the former Celtic and NBA icon.
The send off is fitting due to the years of loyalty
Shaq has had with the Li-Ning company and his popularity in the Chinese market.
Shaq signed with Li-Ning in 2006 and has endorsed them ever since. He has done
a lot of other promo work for them in China like other tours. However, I do
doubt this is really good bye. Much like Michael Jordan never lost his appeal
in the private merchandising sector, I doubt O’Neal will be done. I got a great
feeling that there will be more sneakers and promo tours in China for the Big
Shamrock. As long as there is money to be made and some spot light to be had, Shaq
will be around. However, Shaq being around is not a bad thing. Remember Go
Green Or Go Home!!!!!!!!!!!!!
