“He was one of the best players in the gym today, forget being a rookie. The white [team] won both scrimmages and he carried the games. That was good to see,’’ Rivers said

The Boston Celtics training camp always brings a few surprises. Some surprises are very bad like the mysterious Jeff Green ailment. Other surprises are much more pleasant like the fast start of Celtics rookie E’Twaun Moore. Moore has been very impressive these past few days in training camp to the point that Doc Rivers singled him out for praise after practice. Granted that his young egs might just be more ready for camp than the veteran players, but there is some hope for Moore brought about by his strong play.
The Celtics are a veteran team with title aspirations. This left many to believe that Moore’s future was the D-League. Moore has a solid mid range shot and was working this summer to expand his range. Moore can also get to the basket with a variety of moves. However, Moore was still considered a rookie that needed polish. Some rookies are just too timid after they step out on the floor with the grizzled NBA veterans and many felt that Moore’s confidence would need time to grow.
Moore’s strong play has left such an impression on Doc Rivers that instead of going to Maine, the rookie might see some time in the rotation. Moore has used his offensive skills have been on display as he has been very aggressive on the offensive end. If he is not shy hoisting it up with KG and Ray Allen on the floor, I doubt a real NBA game is going to bring out a bout with bashfulness. The Celtics will need a deep rotation with the long grind of this shortened season and having fresh legs like Moore around to help would be a bonus.
The early camp surprise is the fact a rookie has been the best player on the court according to Doc Rivers. I do not see this scenario continuing. I only hope the other guys catch up to Moore rather than Moore falls back down to Earth. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!
