The latest rumor that is buzzing around the internet is Shaquille O’Neal has told
people that he is negotiating with the WWE to fight at this year’s
Wrestlemania. The reported angle will be a follow up from a storyline that Shaq
was a part of 2009 as a guest host of the show Monday Night Raw. Shaq had an
issue with the monstrous Paul White also known as the Big Show. The rumor is Shaq
verses Big Show.

The move makes sense for the WWE. Shaq is a very huge star that transcends basketball.
Shaq also does martial arts and is a big boy so fighting a giant is very
believable. The WWE loves bringing in media attention with stuff like this and
Shaq will bring a whole lot of that.

My issue is Shaq just does not understand his place in history. Fighting at Wrestlemania
and writing trashy books is just so beneath a man of his stature. Shaq should
be held in the same esteem as other legends like Russell and Wilt, but instead
he tarnishes his image with stuff like this. He should be known as a great
basketball player and not a media whore.His greed for the spotlight is why he
will never reach the level of greats like Wilt and Russell and that is a true
shame.
