Kobe Bryant Reaches out to Gilbert Arenas, Wants him in LA

According to Ken Berger of CBS, Kobe Bryant has contacted Gilbert Arenas, recruiting him to the LA Lakers.

There have been reports that the Lakers are considering Gilbert, but now that their ringleader has reached out to him, it seems like a real possibility.

The Lakers have had a sub-par season thus far, and the point guard slot is clearly their weakness.

Derek Fisher, 37, is on the back end of his career and Steve Blake is far from a viable option at the point. Arenas has had his troubles as of late as well. The legal issues has clearly affected Arenas’ play, as he’s come off of his worst statistical season.

However, the three-time all-star certainly has the potential to spark life into the struggling Lakers team. Arenas averages career stats of 21.2 points, 5.4 assists and 4 rebounds. Whether he has anything left in the tank is another question, but at this point in time, it’s worth the risk for the Lakers.

Ultimately, the Lakers are lacking a consistent 4th scoring punch after Lamar Odom was dealt, and if Arenas is indeed ready to play as reported, he will provide some much needed help in la-la land.
