Ricky Rubio Breaks World Record

By Marian Hinton

Ricky Rubio, the up-and-coming point guard for the Minnesota Tumberwolves and Rookie of the Year candidate, is now an official world record holder.

The 21-year old, who is set to participate in the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge as part of the NBA’s All-Star weekend, set a world record by making 18 shots behind the backboard in less than one minute.

Prior to today, the previous record was 10 shots made under a minute, however, Rubio wasn’t the first to break it.

Evan Turner of the Philadelphia 76ers first broke the record this morning by making 14 shots, but his record only stood for approximately 30 mintes–until Rubio’s performance.

A representative from The Guiness Book of Records was on hand to honor Rubio with a plaque for his record-breaking feat.
