Vince Carter Hosts Obama Fundraiser
No question who Vince Carter is going to vote for in the upcoming election. In a $30,000 per person event, Vince Carter hosted President Barrack Obama and 70 other guests to raise money for Obama’s re-election run.
The attendance list was quite impressive, which included Magic Johnson, NBA Commissioner David Stern, Chris Paul, Alonzo Mourning, and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. The President was greeted warmly by Cuban upon arrival, and will probably meet up at a later time again to campaign.
President Obama is a huge sports fan, having attended games and hosted many teams. He even made a comment to commissioner Stern thanking him for not locking the season out entirely, as that would have been a shame. It was a shame though that we have to try and squeeze as many games in as we had to.
President Obama has also stated he is a huge fan of Linsanity. The President was disappointed to miss the highly anticipated matchup of the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat, but campaigning is necessary for him if he wants to get re-elected. He was able to watch part of the game from Air Force One.
I’m sure this is not the first, nor will it be the last of events featuring sports celebrities for President Obama.
If only the President had brought his basketball sneakers and a game had broken out. That would have made for quite a night.
