Boston Celtics Paul Pierce Has Vintage Performance

By Rob Nelson

Last night’s Boston Celtics game was a lot about one Rajon Rondo. Rondo did carry the team with a ridiculous triple double of 18 points,17 rebounds, and 20 assists. However, Rondo got a lot of help from one Paul Pierce. Paul Pierce turned in a vintage Pierce performance with 34 points on 13 of 23 shooting including a big three that sent the game into over time.

Pierce’s stat line tells the whole story. Pierce was in constant movement the entire game. He attacked the basket regardless of who was covering him. Carmelo Anthony was no match for Pierce. Pierce also through his movement without the ball got him some nice mismatches off switches with a hapless point guard guarding him. The attack mode and aggressiveness led to Pierce jacking up 23 shots. By doing that he would give himself the opportunity to score the game high 34.

When the Celtics were struggling, Paul Pierce was not moving or attacking. Pierce is now moving and attacking. This is why it should be zero shock that Boston’s struggling offense looks so impressive now. Pierce scoring makes everyone from Rondo and KG to the bench’s job easier. It gets them better looks. It gets the team easier baskets. I just hope Pierce continues his vintage performance. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!
