Miami Heat Targeting Lamar Odom?

Ever since Lamar Odom demanded a trade from the Los Angeles Lakers he has been unhappy, and unproductive. Odom has had one of his worst seasons ever while playing for the Dallas Mavericks but, apparently, that is not stopping Pat Riley from trying to acquire Odom, well sort of. According to a report in the New York Daily News Pat Riley is interested in acquiring Odom, and has always been a fan of his, but the chances of acquiring Odom are next to zero, for two reasons.

The first reason that a possible Odom deal won’t get done is that Shane Battier would be the guy that the Heat would want to send over to the Mavericks, and according to Mitch Lawrence of the NY Daily News, most NBA teams view Battier as done. The second reason is that Mavericks owner Mark Cuban really likes Odom and is not willing to deal him, or buy out his contract. If things were different though, like Cuban wanting to get rid of an angry Odom, “He hasn’t been happy from day one,” said a Dallas source”, then Riley would be pursuing Lamar Odom aggressively.
