New Jersey Nets Acquire Gerald Wallace From Portland Trail Blazers

Welcome to the Portland fire sale.  Numerous outlets are reporting that the New Jersey Nets will add Gerald Wallace from the Trail Blazers.  Portland would receive Memhet Okur, Shawne Williams and a top-3 protected first round pick in the 2012 NBA Draft.

This deal is good for both sides.  Portland is able to shed salary and receive a potential high lottery pick.  New Jersey adds another key piece in hopes of convincing Deron Williams to stay next season.

I haven’t seen a team collapse over recent weeks like Portland has.  They travel to Chicago Friday night and the lack of Crash will make the game extremely ugly.  However, Portland needs to start over and build around LaMarcus Aldridge.  This deal helps them achieve that goal.
