Week 13 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire
By Adam McGill
With only 2-3 weeks left in this shortened fantasy basketball season, it is critical to make the right waiver wire pickups. Below is my latest compilation of free agent players to pickup before your competition:
Small Leagues: 8-10 man leagues
PG Goran Dragic, HOU – Dragic has been the best pickup in all fantasy leagues since starting last week; with a MVP-like 14.8 points, 10.8 assists, and 2.4 steals in his last five games.
SG Klay Thompson, GS – Thompson is posting a phenomenal 18.5 points per game since starting for the Warriors.
SF Wesley Matthews, POR – Matthews is small forward eligible in fantasy leagues and scored 18.3 points in his last four games.
PF Derrick Favors, UTA – Favors is finally getting the minutes that he deserves, as the athletic forward as collected 62 rebounds in his last five games alone.
C Spencer Hawes, PHI – Hawes is still available in a majority of fantasy leagues and will quickly be back to averaging a double-double per game.
Large Leagues: 10-14 man leagues
PG J. J. Barea, MIN – The Ricky Rubio injury will give JJB much more playing time; as the NBA Finals last year showed us exactly what he can do with playing time.
SG Courtney Lee, HOU – Lee is averaging a tremendous 13.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2 assists in the last five games.
SF Carlos Delfino, MIL – Delfino has been a constant in the Bucks’ lineup and is one of their only players who is currently healthy.
PF Tristan Thompson, CLE – The fourth overall pick of 2011 is finally in the starting lineup for Cleveland and has gathered 47 points with 23 rebounds in his first three career starts.
C Kevin Seraphin, WSH – Seraphin is the last line of defense in Washington, with 10.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in his last five contests.
