Boston Celtics Paul Pierce Carries Boston To Top Of Atlantic Division
The Boston Celtics were up against their true arch nemesis last night. No, the Celtics were not playing Los Angeles, Miami, or Chicago. They were playing the terrible Bobcats, but the real issue was the fact they were playing them on the second night of a back to back. Granted the team got a laugher of a win against the Wizards the night before, but even the second game after laughers is not in the bag for Boston. The Celtics had a chance with a win over Charlotte to move into a tie with Philly for the Atlantic division lead and the all important four seed. However, they would need someone to step up and carry the team. The man that carried them was none other than the “Captain” Paul Pierce.
Pierce was an absolute beast at both ends of the floor last night. He was aggressive and confident and was playing like a man that knew what was at stake fro his team. Pierce would attack the basket all game. His aggressive play would set the tone for Boston’s offense and get Pierce to the free throw line 18 times. Pierce’s jump shot was on as well as he hit dagger after dagger. Pierce’s 36 points easily demonstrate how on his game was last night.
Pierce also was just as aggressive on the defensive end. Pierce has not been this active on the defensive end all season. Pierce would get real dirty in the paint all night. The result was he ended up grabbing 10 defensive boards for his efforts. He was also active with his hands as he would collect 3 blocks and 3 steals.
The team needed a lift last night to overcome the dreaded second night of the back to back. They needed someone to play like the game meant a lot to them in order to finally climb to even with Philly for the fourth seed. Paul Pierce earned the moniker of captain by being that guy. Pierce’s passion this game lifted his team to victory over Charlotte. If he continues this type of play, Boston is going to make some serious noise come playoff time. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!!!
