Jason Terry Considering Joining Miami Heat Next Season

By Ryan Gaydos

Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash is not the only one thinking about the offseason these days. Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Terry is on the same mindset that Nash is on.

Terry is said to be interested in the idea of him signing with the Miami Heat when he becomes a free agent at the end of this season, according to Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida. Mavericks did not make Terry a contract extension offer after last season’s championship run.

Terry told Tomasson:

“No question, they need a veteran shooter, a guy who can score besides LeBron (James) and (Dwyane Wade), and they know they can count on. I’m a guy that’s been in this league 13 years, (averaging) 15 points a night, easy. Off the bench or the starting lineup, it doesn’t matter. So I think I’d be an asset to them.”

Terry averaged 15.8 points and 4.1 assists per game last season with the Mavericks and is currently averaging 15.2 points and 3.5 assists per game this season for Dallas.

With Terry’s future with the Mavericks in question, we all know that the Mavericks are looking to make a big play in free agency this season. The rumor has been that Dallas is hoping to sign New Jersey Nets‘ guard Deron Williams if he is not back with the Nets next season. Williams is a Dallas native and has said he would love to play in his home town, but Williams’ brother is attending prep school in New Jersey next season.

It is really going to be a fun offseason with all of these potential signings.
