Tim Duncan Sparks a San Antonio Spurs Win Against Indiana Pacers

The San Antonio Spurs had won eight games in a row in this series before playing a home game against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. Indiana has not beat San Antonio since January of 2002. San Antonio’s win streak continued against Indiana, as the Spurs topped the Pacers 112-103. The Spurs have a mix of veterans and young players, a team filled with new talent and former NBA champions. San Antonio also has a future NBA Hall of Fame coach and a future Hall of Fame power forward. On Saturday night, the Spurs dominated the Indiana Pacers from start to finish, taking the lead early and never giving it up.

San Antonio was led by Tim Duncan, who was the game’s top scorer. Duncan’s 23 points and 11 rebounds led all players in the game. Duncan, who is in the fourteenth year of his NBA career, was the only player in the game to score over 20 points. Tim Duncan was also the only player in the game to put up double digit rebounds.

Greg Popovich, in his sixteenth season as head coach of the Spurs, is the longest tenured coach in all of the four major pro sports. Pop has four NBA titles with the Spurs, and has continually built a competitive team year after year. San Antonio (36-14) is currently ranked second in the Western Conference playoff standings. The Spurs have won seven games in a row, and 11 out of their last 13 games.

Indiana will stay on a Texas road trip Sunday night, when they finish a back-to-back against the Houston Rockets.
