The Boston Celtics were on a serious second half roll. The team had caught fire and had won four straight games and had reclaimed the Atlantic Division’s top spot. However, many still felt they were more pretenders than contenders. Not many people would give them much of a chance against the Bulls or the Heat. The Boston Celtics had the perfect opportunity to dispel that silly notion with the Heat in town for a nationally televised game. Celtics star point guard Rajon Rondo would be the guy that truly shattered that notion for doubters as he would record his NBA leading fifth triple double as the Celtics would not just beat Miami, but blow them out 91-72.
This game was the Rajon Rondo show from the opening tip. Rondo would dissect the Heat’s vaunted defense like not many before him. Rondo would put on a dribbling clinic and get into the teeth of the Heat’s defense and wreck havoc. If he did not score off the drive, than he would make a breathtaking pass to an open teammate for an easy look. The Heat tried doubling and even tripling at times and it just did not matter. He would find his teammates like Paul Pierce and Brandon Bass all night. Rondo also be a rebounding presence all night. Rondo would help control the glass and keep the Heat from getting second chance points.
The bottom line is the Miami Heat had zero answers for Rajon Rondo as he would record 16 points, 14 assists, and 11 rebounds. Basketball is about match ups and the Celtics have a huge advantage at the point guard spot should they meet up with the Heat in May. If Doc Rivers gets the defensive effort that he got and this kind of play form Rondo than the Celtics can beat anyone. My money is this team making one more run with Rondo leading the way. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!!!!!!
