To say that DeMarcus Cousins has had an eventful 2011-2012 season with the Sacramento Kings would be an understatement. His season started with clashing with coach Paul Westphal who was ultimately fired by the Kings and replaced with former Golden State Warriors coach Keith Smart. Cousins according to the Sacramento Bee may have sent an inappropriate picture message to a woman and now after a game against the Los Angeles Clippers on April 5th, Cousins states this about Blake Griffin “of course that’s what Blake is going to say because he’s in LA where actors belong, he’s an actor, so of course he would say that.”
Cousins response was from a question asked of him after hearing what Griffin said about the game. To put into context on why Cousins was upset about the night is that he only managed to play just over 18 minutes before he fouled out. Here’s a clip of Cousins’ fifth foul. Griffin is at the top of the key with the basketball, Cousins takes a swipe in hopes of knocking the ball away. Griffin doesn’t even react immediately it’s not until he turns away from Cousins that he begins to reach for his face and then the whistle blew. Cousins was visibly frustrated and rightfully so with Griffin and had some words for him before a referee stepped in.
Yet, this isn’t the first time a NBA player has insinuated that Griffin is an actor or better yet a flopper. There’s a YouTube video with Matt Barnes of the Los Angeles Lakers discussing how Griffin flops. There’s other in-game examples as well for examples he’s done it against Luis Scola and Jason Maxiell.
Making the assertion of Cousins in regards to Griffin being an actor, absolutely true!
