Miami Heat’s Big Three Are In Shutdown Mode
The Miami Heat have decided it is better to rest their three All-Stars instead of risking serious injury with only two games remaining in the regular season and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference locked up.
Chris Bosh has been ruled out for Tuesday night’s contest against the Boston Celtics as he recovers from a hamstring injury that has forced him to miss the last five games. Meanwhile, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are both gametime decisions. Wade is still resting with a dislocated finger while it is unknown why James could be sitting out.
There is no reason to play any of these three players with only two games remaining. Miami could technically still play for the No. 1 seed in the conference, as they are only two games back from the Chicago Bulls, but the Heat seem content with where they currently sit in the standings. It seems highly unlikely Bosh, James or Wade will play until Game 1 of the first postseason round.
Bosh’s injury did not seem like a big deal until recently when the team finally came forward and classified it as leg fatigue. It is pretty clear they have shut him down early to make sure it does not turn into a pulled hamstring. Bosh suffered the injury against the New Jersey Nets last week Monday, but was seen participating in Tuesday’s practice.
Wade’s dislocated finger is still ailing but if the playoffs started today he would definitely be able to suit up. At this point, it is a similar situation to Bosh’s in which the Heat do not want to aggravate the injury even more. Wade dislocated his index finger in a loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday. He recently had the splint removed and also participated in practice, along with James.
It seems like the only thing that will slow Miami down is themselves which is why it is critical they get healthy before next week.
James, Wade and Bosh make up 67.6 percent of Miami’s total offense, 49.4 percent of the team’s rebounding and 62.7 percent of the team’s assists per game. Basically, if one of these guys are unable to play the Heat are going nowhere in the postseason.
