Derrick Rose, Evan Turner Rivalry To Reignite In 2012 NBA Playoffs

Friday makes the last day of the NBA season before the NBA Playoffs go into full swing.  Everything is set up including the first round matchup between the Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers.  This lets us watch a rivalry that has been burning since 2007 as Derrick Rose and Evan Turner can go at each other on the court.

Both were stars in Chicago high school basketball, but Evan Turner thought Rose always got more credit.  After a game in 2007, Turner had this to say:

I was better than [Rose],” Turner said. “With me guarding him he didn’t do much. He knows that and I know that.”

Rose’s response?

We both know who is better,” Rose said. “He’s just doing this to get a little bit of publicity. We’ll see who does more on the next level.”

Rose went on to play in the national title game is freshman year and became the first pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.  Turner was a star at Ohio State and was the second pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.  Based on their accomplishments, I give the edge to Rose.

What does this have to do with the playoffs?  Turner had this to say a couple days before the two teams were set to face each other.

“It means we’re dodging the tougher team. That’s what I think.”

I think we are going to see an angry Bulls team take on the 76ers.  You would not like them when they are angry.  Evan Turner just poked the hornet’s nest.
