LeBron James’s Mouthpiece Contains Motivating Message

After LeBron James and the Miami Heat were outplayed by Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks in last season’s NBA Finals as the Mavs defeated the “Dream Team” for the trophy, we heard all the jokes about the self-proclaimed “King James’s” inability to close out games and the fact that he still hasn’t gotten his championship ring.

In all fairness, last season was really the first true opportunity he had, but he seemed to shirk when it mattered the most.

This season, LeBron has something to prove.

The Miami Heat are taking on the New York Knicks in the first round of this year’s NBA Playoffs, and this time, LeBron is completely focused on his mission.

In fact, LeBron had a special mouthpiece made to help him stay focused and motivated in route to achieving his dream.

His mouthpiece, as seen below, reads, “XVI”.

So, what is the significance of XVI?

It’s the number 16. It takes 16 wins to capture the NBA Championship, and the Heat are off to a good start.

When asked about the message after the Heat’s win over the Knicks in game 1, James told Fox Sports, “It’s just inspirational. I know this is the biggest part of the season, the second part of the season, so it’s just an inspiration for me.”

Whatever it is, it seems to be working for James and the rest of his Miami teammates.

They are currently up two games on the Knicks, and their road to a round 1 victory became much easier last night after Knicks’ star, Amare Stoudemire, cut his hand hitting a fire extinguisher in last night’s defeat.

Much like last season, the Heat are considered the team to beat, at least in the Eastern Conference, especially with Chicago Bulls‘ point guard Derrick Rose’s season-ending ACL tear.

Only this time, LeBron James hopes there is a much different ending.
