After Stan Van Gundy got fired early on Monday, many people figured the last thing the Orlando Magic were looking at was a Dwight Howard trade. Unfortunately, the center still wants out of Orlando, no matter who is in charge.
Earlier on Monday, I wrote about Howard affecting his legacy if he still demanded a trade after getting his way. I feel that by still demanding a trade, Howard has burned a lot of bridges with a lot of people. His reputation is already failing. Another Dwight Howard trade demand will only increase the anger.
Howard will have plenty of teams interested in getting him. However, how many teams will he sign an extension with? That is the ultimate gamble right now. Do you throw an overwhelming package at Orlando to get a potential rental player? I am not sure if you can trust Dwight to bring you a title. I do not know if he loves basketball enough to care that much.
Another offseason of Dwight Howard trade rumors will be absolute torture. I hope that if Orlando does move him, they do it quickly. None of us want to sit through another season of Howard talking about trades in the media. If you do it, get it over with as fast as possible..
A Dwight Howard trade may be the only way to solve this mess in Orlando. I think Howard is killing his legacy, but he must see something different. Then again, who knows if he is even thinking anymore?
