Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs continues to defy things such as age and expectations. During Game 2, he threw down a vintage facial dunk on Serge Ibaka of the Oklahoma City Thunder. You know, the same Ibaka that was a contender for Defensive Player of the Year.
I can not see any way that Tim Duncan and the Spurs fail to win the title this year, barring injury. They are playing on another level right now. They can beat you in so many ways. They can let the stars dominate. They can kill you with corner threes and transition play. Then, if they get bored, they can grind you out with some defense and post play.
This team is playing the best basketball that I have seen in quite some time. Tim Duncan is proving to be ageless. When a guy like Tim can do the same stuff in 2012 that he was doing in 1999, opponents are going to have some problems guarding you. He doesn’t throw down big dunks very often anymore, but I think that makes this one a lot better.
I doubt that the Miami Heat can withstand the onslaught the Spurs and Tim Duncan can bring. Yes, I am already penciling those two teams into the NBA Finals. Their opponents are simply overmatched. It is going to be a great Finals matchup. Vintage Tim Duncan taking on the King and his court.
