The New Orleans Hornets Are The Winners Of The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery

By Riley Schmitt

Wednesday night marked the beginning of NBA Draft season.  The 2012 NBA Draft Lottery was held, with the team winning the lottery getting the right to draft Anthony Davis with the first overall pick.  When the ping pong balls had finally settled, the New Orleans Hornets were the eventual winners.

Owner Tom Benson has to love his new purchase of the New Orleans Hornets.  He has barely owned the team and now he gets Anthony Davis.  That is quite a good start to his ownership.  I bet we hear a lot of people chirp about how it was rigged to reward him for buying the team, but I doubt that it was rigged.

At least the New Orleans Hornets can draft Davis.  He is going to be an absolute game changer.  He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and make jumpers.  He is just not a dunker.  His shot blocking ability is also amazing.  He does more than just swat the ball out of bounds.  He is adept at tapping the ball to a teammate to start the fast break.  I wish more players had the brains to try such a thing.

With the NBA playoffs in full force, the next month will be all basketball talk.  Once the Finals are over, we can finally have the draft.  Personally, I can not wait to see how teams screw up their picks.  At least the New Orleans Hornets have a surefire thing.
