When you think about the Oklahoma City Thunder, I guarantee Thabo Sefolosha is about the sixth player you probably think of. However, he had his coming out party in Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs. Sefolosha set the tone with his defense and gave the Thunder an unexpected offensive boost.
If you can get 19 points out of Thabo Sefolosha, you take that every single time. That has been a knock on him since he joined the league. He simply can not score enough to be more than a complementary player. However, OKC needs him to step up his scoring if they want to compete for a title.
Thabo Sefolosha absolutely destroyed any semblance of offense that the Spurs had. He was constantly disrupting the pick and roll and generally being an amazing defender. He had six steals and helped set up numerous fast breaks.
I expect the defense of Thabo Sefolosha to stay the same, but the offense will be the interesting part. If he can knock down corner threes, that gives the Thunder another threat outside of their big three. If he is unable to do that, the offense may start to bog down a bit.
This series now looks like it is far from over. The Thunder have snatched some momentum and Thabo Sefolosha was a big part of that. If he can keep up his energy and scoring, the Thunder could steal another game or two. It will be quite the interesting battle.
