Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the league. He is probably number two behind LeBron James but you have a lot of people that would take the Oklahoma City Thunder star over the Miami Heat star. The way that it has looked in the playoffs, Durant has a case that he should have won the MVP during the regular season.
I’m going to hedge on this a bit, but I do not think that Kevin Durant is the best player in the league, but I think he is the most valuable to his team. LeBron is by far the best overall player in the league. His defense and rebounding give him the edge above Durant. The only thing holding Durant back from the MVP is that he plays with a point guard who can be too reckless at times.
His point guard, Russell Westbrook, is a box score king. He always looks like he has a decent number of points and assists, but you have to watch the game to understand the true dynamic. Kevin Durant is the closer of the team and he is by far the best player. In fact, Westbrook tried to ruin Game 5 for the Thunder. Instead of giving the ball to Durant, he spent too much time dribbling around.
Kevin Durant is an absolute cold-blooded killer on the court. Early in the game, he ignited the Thunder to take the lead. He also kept them in it when the Spurs were rolling. For some inane reason, he never gets the ball at the end of the game. If you take Westbrook out of the equation, Kevin Durant is the real MVP of the NBA.
