San Antonio Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich Says Four Words During Interview With Craig Sager
Gregg Popovich is a great coach for the San Antonio Spurs but interviews are not exactly something that he enjoys doing. During Game 5 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Popovich was interviewed by Craig Sager before the fourth quarter. Popovich said a grand total of four words during the whole thing.
“We competed.” “Same way.” Those are words to live by if you are Gregg Popvich doing an in game interview. Personally, I think making coaches do in game interviews is just moronic. Let them focus on coaching and the game. They do not need to waste time giving interviews that reveal nothing.
I can see why Gregg Popovich was so displeased. The Thunder weathered the big haymaker that the Spurs threw at them and responded by taking the lead back quickly. Popovich is running out of tricks in his bag to use. I think the writing is on the way and the Spurs are slowly seeing their season end. The young legs of the Thunder are proving to be too much for the Spurs to handle.
Gregg Popovich is a fantastic coach, but he can not make the players get younger. There is no Fountain of Youth in San Antonio. We are seeing the Spurs slowly come to grips with the fact that they are losing their battle against Father Time. It is a fight that everyone loses and people thought the Spurs could fight off.
Too bad we will never know what Gregg Popovich thinks caused the end of the season. I don’t know if you can explain that in four words.
