Rajon Rondo of the Boston Celtics certainly comes up with interesting ways to score. Early on in Game 7, the Celtics were faced with an inbounds pass with little time on the shot clock. Rondo decided to throw it off of the back of Dwyane Wade and then he scored the easy layup.
That is schoolyard stuff but that does not make it any less awesome. Wade had no idea that Rajon Rondo was going to pass it off his back for the easy layup. You always have to have an eye on the ball. I bet Wade will not turn his back to Rondo again.
Rajon Rondo can pull plays off like this, but he can also miss easy fast break layups like he did later in the quarter. He is so scared to shoot free throws that he makes things harder than he has to. If he were to just drive in the lane and absorb contact, his offense would be more consistent. It would also be less interesting but I think that would be a good trade off.
The first quarter is nearly over, but this game is going to go down to the wire. The Miami Heat need to start hitting some jumpers and the Celtics just have to keep up the pressure. They play their game and they will probably win. If Rajon Rondo can keep up plays like this, the Celtics can not be beat. He is too creative.
